City to Co-host Open House about West Glebe Road Bridge Project Wed., Feb. 12

The City of Alexandria and Arlington County invite the public to an open house on the West Glebe Road Bridge project. The open house will take place on Wednesday, February 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gunston Middle School (2700 S. Lang St., Arlington, VA 22206). The West Glebe Road Bridge crosses Four Mile Run near South Four Mile Run Drive, about 0.6 mi. west of our community and is a major throughfare for commuters and Lenox Place residents.

In fall 2018, a routine inspection of the West Glebe Road Bridge at South Four Mile Run Drive uncovered deterioration. This deterioration required a vehicle weight restriction on the bridge as well as closure of the sidewalks in both directions. Arlington and Alexandria are now working to return the bridge to a safe operational condition for all users and improve access for people walking, biking and driving.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the drop-in style open house to learn more about the project, ask questions of staff, and provide feedback on bridge cross-sections and visual preferences.
