Unfortunately, there has been an increase in attempted car break-ins in your area. We would like to take the time to share some helpful tips that may prove useful.
Keeping your car safe: Tips for preventing theft
- Lock your doors (cars and home).
- Remove your keys from the vehicle.
- Do not leave a spare key near your vehicle.
- Close and lock the windows (car and home).
- Park in well-lit areas.
- Install an audible alarm system and anti-theft device on your car.
- Install a tracking system on your car.
- Don’t leave anything of value in your vehicle.
As the Alexandria Chief of Police told residents attending our recent Community Safety Meeting on June 17th, call “911” if you see any suspicious behavior, or if you or a neighbor experiences any type of theft please report this to the police right away.
